2nd Annual WSWNE Noson Lawen

Our 2nd Annual Noson Lawen for Dylan Thomas Day was held on May 19, 2019 at the TapHouse Grill, 1506 Riverdale Street, West Springfield, MA.

Our date was chosen to be as close as possible to International Dylan Thomas Day (May 14). It celebrates the life and work of Welsh poet Dylan Thomas on the anniversary of the date when “Under Milk Wood” was first read on stage at The Poetry Center, New York in 1953.

NOSON LAWEN, literal translation “Happy Evening”, has roots in rural Wales when families would gather together in a home to entertain one another with all manner of music and songs, readings and recitations.

We first enjoyed each other’s company in our cozy private room during a meal and drinks from the menu. Then, after opening remarks by WSWNE President, Susan Davies Sit, member Jason Ellsworth introduced seven of our members who shared readings and/or music with those gathered.
