The Cwrs Cymraeg 2024 Welsh Language Course will be held at Edgewood College in Madison, Wisconsin, July 21-28.
Cwrs y Pedwar Llyn (The Course of the Four Lakes) invites learners from beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels to participate in a week-long residential course led by experienced Welsh language teachers. In addition to immersive classroom sessions, the course will also bring together students for singing, games, an Eisteddfod, and other opportunities to practice the language, celebrate Welsh culture, and just have fun. There will also be an optional midweek day trip.
The capital of Wisconsin, Madison is a small but vibrant city which offers a lot to visitors and is scenically located on an isthmus between Lake Mendota and Lake Monona, which, along with two other nearby lakes, give this year’s course its name. In fact, Four Lakes is the original name of the area which became Madison and is the meaning of the city’s Indigenous Ho-Chunk name, Teejop.
