NOSON LAWEN, literal translation “Happy Evening”, has roots in rural Wales when families would gather together in a home to entertain one another with all manner of music and songs, readings and recitations.
We will gather in a pleasant room at the TapHouse Grill, 1506 Riverdale Street, West Springfield, MA.
There we will share Welsh fables, stories, poetry, readings, singing and music, in both the Welsh & English language, while having a meal and drinks together (on your own from the menu).
Everyone is welcome to contribute to the evening. Please sign up by Monday, May 13. Just email advising what you will sing, play, or read. Or just join us to listen and enjoy.
Read about our 1st Annual Noson Lawen and see videos from it on our News and Past Events Page.
Our date was chosen to be as close as possible to International Dylan Thomas Day (May 14). It celebrates the life and work of Welsh poet Dylan Thomas on the anniversary of the date when “Under Milk Wood” was first read on stage at The Poetry Center, New York in 1953.
